Have you ever logged onto a website and found misspellings and grammatical errors? Or received e-mails--such as corporate newsletters or automated responses--and seen typos in them? Was it enough to make you wonder just how qualified that company really was? Or perhaps you thought, "Thank goodness I didn't trust them with a credit card!" It seems these types of mistakes are everywhere. I recently spotted a national internet search engine asking you to enter an "addresss." I also recently received an e-mail auto response that read, "be sure to save you're information." You would think that in this age of technology, these things wouldn't happen. But right now, everyone is so concerned with how to get the information out there, that they're less concerned with what they are putting out there.
We are in what is being called the "Information Age." Your company, whether it's a major corporation or a small business, will need to have a presence on the web. That's really not news, everyone knows that. But not only will you need dynamic content for your business to grow, you will need to offer the highest quality, because with so many choices available, the average consumer won't tolerate poor quality. Why should they? With a click of a button they can go elsewhere if they aren't impressed, and, chances are, they will. In fact, you've no doubt done it yourself. So what can you do about it? Have your site checked by a professional editor, one who has years of experience with editing, and not someone who just graduated from college and is putting websites together. Why should I have my webpage, website, or e-mail checked?Slips happen. People from all over the globe will be visiting your site, do you really want to have glaring mistakes? Make your website the best it can be. It needs to be if you want to compete in the global market. Everybody needs an editor for the simple reason that any kind of writing is subjective. You know what you want to say, but sometimes it doesn't come out that way, or you just miss errors when proofreading because you know what you meant. It's perfectly natural. That's why it is far better to have someone outside your company read what you're putting out there for the world to see. For a very small investment, you can make sure your website or autoresponse is professional and well written. Don't take the chance of turning away customers.
